We work with clients to bolster and establish a culture of collaboration between marketing and communications, program and fundraising staff to get there.

 

The Social Impact Strategist, Philanthropy is a remote position for someone with a core skillset in strategic philanthropy with an interest in communications and marketing. A successful candidate for this position is highly organized, deeply immersed in content, understands its strategic application and can work with others to move big ideas into fully-realized concepts and materials. Given that we support our clients with strategic philanthropy, communications and marketing, this position ensures contributions to the essential elements of successful social impact. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Business Development:

  • Help develop the growth, strategy, and direction of our philanthropic focus, including hitting pre-determined goals tied to expanding our philanthropy services business area.
  • Communicate, both verbally and through written materials, the firm’s services and partnership opportunities, and develop and present high-quality proposals for client services.

Project Management:

  • Work across four to six client accounts at any given time and support team-wide project coordination on a weekly basis.
  • Maintain ownership over quality control through editing, proofreading, fact-checking, and coordinating production of a variety of fundraising and communications materials.
  • Support relationship management across a range of clients, partners, subject matters, and disciplines.
  • Keep a clear understanding of a client’s philanthropic or communication needs, content and account strategy while effectively supporting and managing team members’ efforts in delivering high-quality products.

Strategic Philanthropy:

  • Support fundraising from foundations, corporations, and major individual donors, as well as donor stewardship and the organization of donor events.
  • Under the guidance of our Vice President of Strategic Philanthropy, provide counsel and thought leadership on strategic philanthropic efforts.
  • Support clients as they build and execute a successful philanthropic blueprint for their organizations to deliver on the promise of their missions and strengthen their long-term sustainability.
  • Develop philanthropic work plans, conduct prospect research and tracking, manage donor databases, oversee gift processing, and craft donor-centered communications.

Content Strategy & Development:

  • Manage the process of philanthropy and brand strategy implementation, by collaborating with the strategic team to develop philanthropic and communications campaigns.
  • Work with the team to develop, write and produce communications materials (presentations, positioning documents, research summaries, messaging materials, web copy, and social media content, etc.) and develop them into final products.

Research:

  • Support quantitative and qualitative research efforts through stakeholder interviews, content development, reviewing existing research and content, and summarizing and contributing preliminary strategic analysis.
  • Conduct donor and prospect research and tracking to inform strategic engagement and cultivation efforts.

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in philanthropy, communications, marketing, public affairs, or related fields
  • Project management experience, leading and executing a portfolio of interconnected projects with close attention to detail across multiple stakeholders
  • Experience working with CRMs or other related platforms
  • Proven experience, confidence, and a successful track record in business development, demonstrating your ability to drive growth and foster partnerships effectively
  • Commitment and passion for social change
  • Familiarity with nonprofit organizations and fundraising best practices. An understanding of the philanthropic climate is a significant asset, enhancing your contributions to our mission-driven objectives.
